Walks Print E-mail

Nestling in the heart of the Herve Plateau in the midst of a landscape of orchards, trees and hedges, the small municipality of Aubel will seduce tourists looking for relaxation. The Tourist Office and the municipality of Aubel are well aware of the attraction to tourists of the nature that surrounds them, which is why it has just completely renovated the walks around Aubel: new routes, new signposting, new map etc. And central to this are 10 new walks and 3 new routes for riders and mountain bikers.

Ten walks (ranging from 2.5 to 8.5 km in length) have been revisited in the Aubel area, entailing either superficial changes or reopening paths and favouring a pastoral approach (rights of way etc.), far away from roads and so on for the greater pleasure of the walkers.

Four walks start in front of the Abbey of Val-Dieu, one of which is accessible to pushchairs. Two others start from the magnificent little village of Saint Jean Sart, one of which joins the walks originating at Val-Dieu. Three others depart from the centre of Aubel and two from the village of La Clouse.

A map has been produced in conjunction with the National Geographic Institute, showing the routes of the ten walks, barbecue points, viewing points etc. The reverse of the map also contains three routes that can be taken on horseback or mountain bike to Aubel and in neighbouring municipalities.

This map is available from the Pays d’Aubel Tourist Office (+32(0)87-680139), from the Abbey of Val-Dieu (+32(0)87-692828), and from the Pays d’Herve Tourist Information Service (+32(0)87-693670), price € 6.
