Situated at the heart of the Pays de Herve region, Aubel offers tourists a landscape of orchards and walks as well as a heritage that is particularly worthy of mention.
In the town centre, a number of remarkable residences bear witness to the wealthy past of this small town whose market was for many centuries the primary commercial centre for the Pays de Herve. This market still exists and nowadays is held twice a week, on Tuesdays and Sundays. The Sunday market in particular attracts a huge crowd each week. Aubel’s dual traditions of agriculture and business generated the astonishing prosperity in food processing which characterises Aubel today.
As soon as you go out into the countryside, there are thriving and prosperous farms peppered across the landscape that is criss-crossed by hedges and trees. And if you head west, you will find the Abbey of Val-Dieu, founded in the 12th century at a site where the rivers Bel and Berwinne merge.
The Tourist Office welcomes you to Aubel to discover this wealth and more.
Display units are avalaible to provide tourists with documents dealing with local and regional subjects. Books, brochures and other such items are also on sale.
